About
Barry D. Bowden MS, MA, ThM, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Barry is a retired Army chaplain who served in the military 34 years; he and his wife moved 14 times in 22 years with 4 children. He has served 9 years as a Military and Family Life Counselor, the last 7 with Special Operations Forces. He understands the pressures and stresses of life. Barry believes that although we handle many things in life well, sometimes there are areas in which we need help. We need someone who will listen to us, help us understand and clarify our situation, and support us going forward.
Barry approaches life from a Christian worldview, but works with clients from diverse backgrounds and beliefs. Counseling from a biblical perspective is available upon request.
Barry specializes in personal and relationship problems, issues specific to military couples, PTSD, anxiety, life transitions, trauma and grief, and spiritual issues.
Barry is trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) -- an evidence-based treatment for psychological trauma and depression. It provides rapid recovery from problems such as trauma, anxiety, work stress, relationship issues, infidelity, and PTSD. ART allows an individual to keep the knowledge of the incident but lose the pain from the past to find relief.
